THE PLAINS, Va. – Colorful fall foliage, tailgate parties, fancy hats and, of course, Jack Russell Terrier races marked the 75th annual International Gold Cup Saturday.

The International Gold Cup draws tens of thousands to Great Meadow in The Plains, Va. The Gold Cup has two races a year, with the spring race in May corresponding with the Kentucky Derby.

Virginia Gold Cup spokeswoman Vicki Bendure says the event will result in hundreds of thousands of dollars being spent in Northern Virginia.

While the horse races are the main attraction, the Jack Russel Terrier races draw a large crowd.
