Lightning strikes Va. home causing fire, $195,000 damage

WASHINGTON – A house caught fire after lightning struck the roof on Friday in Fairfax County.

Authorities responded to the single-family home on the 3100 block of Trenholm Drive in the Oakton area around 10:30 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the roof. They were able to get the fire under control in 15 minutes, according to a news release.

Half of the roof was saved, but there was extensive water damage on the second floor. Damage is estimated at $195,000..

There were no injuries.
