Fairfax Co. considers limits on dancing at restaurants

FAIRFAX, Va. – There’s a push in Fairfax County to get tough on restaurants that transform into nightclubs after dark.

Some county leaders say restaurants that serve food during the day and convert to dance clubs at night in Fairfax County can be troublesome.

The Fairfax Times reports there have been problems with some of them – including violence, nudity and fire code violations.

The county planning commission is considering new rules that would limit the size of a dance floor at a restaurant to 150 square feet.

Restaurants with larger dance floors would be required to apply for dance hall permit. The cost? More than $16,000. A planning commission vote on the new rules is set for March 1.
