It's not technically a state, but that certainly won't stop D.C. from having a state fair. The D.C. State Fair celebrates all things culinary (pie, ice cream and pickle contests), agricultural (longest and funkiest-looking vegetable contests)and artistic (photography and poetry contests).

This year's fair will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, from noon to 7 p.m.
