JetBlue adds flights between Vegas, San Francisco

LAS VEGAS (AP) — JetBlue Airways says it will begin flying nonstop between Las Vegas and San Francisco starting in January.

The airline announced the new route the same day competitor Virgin America said it would launch new seasonal service between Las Vegas and Boston as well as add flights to-and-from New York.

Both airlines are offering new routes and additional flights for destinations served by the other from Las Vegas.

The new JetBlue route will start Jan. 5 with two daily nonstop flights departing Las Vegas at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific time and returning from San Francisco at 1:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

The airline also previously announced it is expanding its reach to South Florida.

A new nonstop route between Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport starts Oct. 29.
