Carhartt celebrates 125th birthday with beer tour

DETROIT (AP) — Michigan-based clothing maker Carhartt is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a cold one.

The Dearborn company plans to kick off a national beer tour Monday in nearby Detroit.

In honor of its birthday, Carhartt partnered with New Holland Brewing to make a commemorative beer, the Carhartt Woodsman.

Carhartt says the beer is designed to honor the craftspeople and tradespeople who have supported the brand over the years. According to the company, it’s a barrel-aged American pale ale that features malt sweetness and toasted oak.

The Carhartt beer tour starts at the Ponyride site in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood on Monday before moving on to cities such as Chicago and Milwaukee.

It will wrap up at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, which is on tap for early next month.
