Update at 3:23 p.m. — Two workers have been rescued from the scaffolding and are unhurt.

Update at 3:30 p.m. — The westbound lanes of Columbia Pike have been reopened.

Earlier: Police and firefighters are on the scene of a man reportedly dangling from scaffolding at an apartment building.

The incident is taking place at 2200 Columbia Pike, at the corner of S. Wayne Street. Police are shutting down the Pike in both directions while firefighters attempt to rescue the man, who’s about 50 feet up, according to scanner traffic.

Drivers should avoid the area if possible.
