Arlington County Police are searching for a man who threw a Molotov cocktail-like device in the Ballston Common Mall.
The man threw what was described as a “flaming bottle” from an upper level of the mall down to the food court, according to scanner traffic. Three additional bottles, which “smelled like gasoline,” were found by mall security after the man fled.
The device thrown into the food court shattered but did not spark a fire and so far there have been no reports of injuries.
Police are looking for a black male in the 30s who was seen with a gray and red backpack.
