Man arrested in Alexandria apartment hunt assault

WASHINGTON – Police have arrested a 23-year-old man suspected in the abduction and assault of two women who were on an apartment hunt in Alexandria, Va. Tuesday evening.

James Savage Click, 23, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of abduction and two counts of felonious assault, Alexandria police say. He was being held at the Alexandria Adult Detention Center.

The two victims were responding to an ad for an apartment in the 2200 block of Mill Road at about 6 p.m. Tuesday when police say a man took them inside an abandoned building nearby and physically assaulted them.

The women fought back and ran away, and were later treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

ABC 7 (WJLA) reports police received calls Wednesday after a man matching the suspect’s description was seen near the building. Click reportedly was detained then by police and later released after being questioned.

The suspect told ABC 7 he watches the building at times for its owner and that he has a key. Sources tell the station the building’s owner lives in California.
