Police need information on serial groper in Bailey’s Crossroads

BAILEY’s CROSSROADS, Va. — A serial groper may be on the loose in Fairfax County — again.

Following several recent attacks at busy shopping centers, the Fairfax County Police Department is asking for the public’s help.

Seven attacks have taken place in the Bailey’s Crossroads area, between March 22 and April 19.

Police say the suspect sneaks up on a woman, grabs her crotch or buttocks, and then runs off.

The incidents have occurred as early as 2 p.m. and as late as 9 p.m.

The victims have been women between the ages of 20 and 40.

So far, no victim has been able to identify the attacker. However, detectives believe some witnesses may not have come forward.

Fairfax County police spokesperson Lucy Caldwell tells WTOP the events are recent enough for someone to remember something out of the ordinary, such as a person running away.

This case is reminiscent of 2012 and 2013, when a suspect was wanted in connection with two dozen groping incidents around Springfield. That person has never been caught.

Caldwell says police don’t have evidence to link these crimes to the ones in Springfield.
