German artist’s sculptures to grace Park Avenue

NEW YORK (AP) — Next month a stretch of Park Avenue will be home to seven large-scale stainless steel sculptures by a German artist.

The series is titled “Moments in a Stream.” It’s the work of Amsterdam-based German artist Ewerdt Hilgemann.

The works will be located on the center median between 52nd and 67th streets. They’ll be on view from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31.

The installation will coincide with the first large-scale survey in the U.S. dedicated to the German art group ZERO. The exhibition will open at the Guggenheim Museum in October.

Hilgemann was a student of one of the movement’s early co-founders. The group focused on movement and light as artistic media.

His work also will be shown at the Magnan Metz gallery on Aug. 7-21.
