Rockville-based developer Federal Realty Investment Trust is continuing its marketing blitz for its coming Pike & Rose project in White Flint with an iPad application.

The app includes renderings, construction phasing and retail and office leasing information for the 24-acre site at the Mid-Pike Plaza on Rockville Pike. The developer has announced a number of incoming businesses during construction of the first phase of the project: 950,000 square feet of mixed-use retail that includes a luxury iPic movie theater.

Federal Realty broke ground last summer on that section of the development along Old Georgetown Road and is expected to be completed in the summer or fall of 2014. Phase 1 also includes an 18-story, 300-unit apartment building. Phase 2a and 2b will fill in the northern half of the Mid-Pike Plaza.

Company officials showed off the app at a convention of shopping center developers and others in the industry last month in Las Vegas. Federal Realty’s Robin McBride said it’s a rare example of a leasing and information tool being made public and a way for the developer to keep the community informed. The app will provide updates on construction of the project.

A press release on the app said Rockville Pike is the oldest road in Montgomery County and Pike & Rose “is one of the most important projects to happen in the surrounding community since the road was established in the early 1800s.”

The iPic theater and a 250-seat weekend music venue operated by Strathmore will anchor the first phase of the project. Other businesses that have been officially announced for the project include Roti Mediterranean Grill, ShopHouse Asian Kitchen, and restaurants connected to the movie theater.

Delivery of Phase 2a is slated for 2016.
