Governor’s Race Heating Up, Gansler Stays Quiet — Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown (D) announced Howard County Executive Ken Ulman will join him on his ticket in the June 2014 gubernatorial primary. A number of Republicans, including former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, are talking about running. Suburban Hospital To Host Kids’ Festival, Pediatric Anniversary — To celebrate the tenth anniversary of its pediatrics unit and to rededicate it in honor of funding from the Shaw Family Foundation, Suburban Hospital (8600 Old Georgetown Rd.) will host a free festival to highlight the importance of healthy lifestyles for kids. The event will include dance and karate workshops, a healthy cooking demonstration, sports competitions, carnival games and appearances from a few Washington Redskins and Washington Spirit women’s soccer players. [Suburban Hospital]
