Terminally ill teen’s song and story go viral online

Mashable reports Zach Sobiech has died of cancer at the age of 18.

“Cancer may have taken Zach too soon, but he leaves a lasting legacy that most of us will never achieve,” the Children’s Cancer Research Fund says in a statement. “His message of love and hope delivered through infectious lyrics and memorable tunes have imprinted on the minds and hearts of millions around the world.”

WASHINGTON – A song a terminally ill teenager wrote as a way to say goodbye is going viral on You Tube.

Zach Sobiech, 17, is a budding musician who released a song called “Clouds,” now available on iTunes.

“Music is a way I can express myself without having to burden everyone else,” Sobiech says of his songwriting.

Sobiech was the subject of a short documentary called, “My Last Days.” The video by Soul Pancake follows Sobiech, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.

He only has weeks to live.

Through interviews with his family, friends and Zach himself, the documentary chronicles how Sobiech lives out his last days.
