Md. teen indicted for possession of pipe bomb

WASHINGTON – A Chevy Chase teenager has been indicted on two counts of manufacturing and possessing destructive devices.

A Montgomery County grand jury issued the indictment against Kyle G. Druckemiller, 19, Thursday. He is accused of possessing two pipe bombs and devices needed to set them off, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Druckemiller told investigators that he built the two pipe bombs during a trip to South Carolina last fall. He told police that he filled one with powder from fireworks and set it off. The other he filled with matches but did not set it off, according to court records.

He told investigators that the pipe bomb and bomb making supplies have been in his duffle bag since then.

“Druckemiller got the idea of building pipe bombs on YouTube,” investigators wrote in the affidavit.

Druckemiller brought the duffle bag containing the bombs to his girlfriend’s home in the 12300 block of Milestone Manor Lane in Germantown.

The girlfriend’s father found the devices and called police on April 12.

Investigators also found alligator clips, a 9-volt battery, two timers and an “improvised” detonator, according to court records.

If convicted of the charges, Druckemiller would face up to 25 years in prison.
