2 pedestrians seriously injured in hit and run

WASHINGTON – Two teens were seriously injured after they were struck in a hit-and-run Friday night in Pasadena, Md.

Anne Arundel County police say the teens were walking along the narrow shoulder of Mountain Road near Alvin Drive about 9:25 p.m. when they were hit by a passing SUV.

Police say the driver fled the scene before police arrived and investigators were still looking for the vehicle Saturday.

The car is believed to be a late model, dark Ford Expedition. The SUV would have damage to the passenger-side headlight and turn signal, which was broken out, and should have hood damage and damage to the passenger-side front quarter-panel, police say.

A 13-year-old girl, of Clearwater Beach, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. A 15-year-old boy from Pasadena sustained critical injuries and was taken to Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.

A third teen was with them at the time but she was uninjured, police say.

The teens’ names were not released.

Police say the teens were walking westbound with the flow of traffic at the time of the pedestrian crash.

Anyone with information about the hit and run is asked to call the traffic safety section at 410-222-8573.
