Weekly Crime Report: March 4 to March 19

No Bethesda District crime summary last week means two weeks worth of reports today, led off by a purse snatch and grab that included a getaway car near Montgomery Mall:

An armed robbery occurred in the 10400 block of Parthenon Court, Bethesda on Tuesday, 3/12 at 3:10 a.m.  The female victim was approached by the suspect.  The suspect took the victim’s purse and fled to a waiting vehicle driven by a second the second suspect

Suspect: B/M, 24-29, 5’9”-5’10”, 160 lbs. black hoodie;  B/F, 24-25, 5’4”, 110 lbs.; ponytail

Vehicle: Maroon 4-door Buick, yellowish out-of-state tag.

An attempted commercial burglary occurred at Smartlink, 6001 Wisconsin Avenue, Chevy Chase on Friday, 3/8 at 1:30 p.m.  Attempted forced entry – unsuccessful.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred in this Chevy Chase/Silver Spring beat, primarily in the Rosemary Hills area.  A suspect was arrested on Monday, 3/18 at approximately 1:45 a.m. after a witness saw the suspect looking in vehicle windows and trying vehicle doors.

Arrested: Male, 27, from Washington, DC.

Graffiti: Two incidents of graffiti were reported in this Chevy Chase beat this week

In the 8300 block of Grubb Road, Chevy Chase between Tuesday, 3/5 and Thursday 3/7.  Graffiti was painted the exterior wall of Rock Creek Elementary School.

In the 2600 block of Colston Drive on Thursday, 3/14.  Graffiti was painted on the exterior wall of St. Paul Methodist Church

A commercial burglary occurred at 7735 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda on Wednesday, 3/6 at approximately 5:30 p.m.  Forced entry; nothing taken.

Suspect: B/M, 25-35, 5’6”-5’8”, 140 lbs.

A residential burglary occurred in the 4600 block of Avondale Street, Bethesda on Thursday, 3/14 between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.  Forced entry; property taken.

Four thefts from vehicles occurred during the daytime on Thursday, 3/14 in this Bethesda beat.  Three occurred in parking garages in the 7700 block of Woodmont Avenue.  A fourth occurred in a nearby garage in the 7500 block of Wisconsin Avenue.  Windows were broken and property was taken.

A residential burglary occurred on Friday, 3/8 in the 10200 block of Rockville Pike, North Bethesda between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Forced entry; property taken.

A residential burglary occurred on Friday, 3/8 in the 11900 block of Parklawn Place between 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Forced entry; property taken.

A theft from a construction site in the 10800 block of Symphony Park Drive, North Bethesda occurred from Wednesday, 3/13 to Thursday, 3/14.  Unknown means of entry; property taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred in this Bethesda/Chevy Chase beat.  Half of the vehicles had been left unsecured; the rest were found with broken windows.  Incidents occurred both during the day and overnight time frames; no suspects were noted.  Affected streets included: the 5300 block of Western Avenue, 4600 block of N. Park Avenue, 5000 block of Earlson Drive and the 5400 block of Newport Avenue.

Graffiti was painted on the side of a vehicle in the 4500 block of Drummond Avenue, Chevy Chase overnight from Friday, 3/15 to Saturday, 3/16.

A burglary occurred at the Bethesda Country Day School, 5615 Beech Avenue, Bethesda on Saturday, 3/9 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Suspect: W/M, 47.
