Alexandria restaurant hosting fundraiser for injured officer

WASHINGTON – A popular restaurant is hosting a fundraiser for Alexandria Police Officer Peter Laboy, who was shot in the head in February.

The Alexandria Police Association and the restaurant Virtue Feed and Grain are hosting the fundraiser from 3 p.m. To 6 p.m.

There is a minimum $10 donation at the door, with food included.

There will also be silent and live auctions at the fundraiser, with restaurant gift certificates, hockey sticks and jerseys signed by Washington Capitals players and other sports memorabilia. Organizers say anybody planning to bid should bring cash or checks, they are not accepting credit cards at the auction.

Virtue Feed and Grain is located at 106 South Union Street, Alexandria, Va. Organizers are asking anybody planning on attending to take public transit. Find more information about the fundraiser here.

Family members say Laboy is making progress in his recovery.
