Drag racing may have killed man, injured others on Metrobus

WASHINGTON – Drag racing may have lead to last night’s fatal accident involving a Metro bus in Prince George’s County.

Witnesses tell police that two Mercedes were racing down Central Avenue around 9:30 Friday night when one of the cars struck the Route F14 Metro bus at Soper Lane in Seat Pleasant, police say. The other car veered off into the eastbound lanes and struck a sign.

22-year-old Cleon Wills of Bowie died on the scene, police say. Around 40 people were on the bus, eight of those were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the other Mercedes was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the accident, police say. The investigation is still ongoing.
