Internal emails among Alexandria officials and interviews this week with Corcoran Gallery of Art executives reveal that Alexandria officials aggressively promoted the city’s waterfront as a possible new location for the Corcoran, beginning nearly a year before museum officials announced in June that the option of leaving D.C. was under consideration, The Washington Post reported.
