$20 refunds coming in bogus Maryland prize scam

WASHINGTON – It’s not a scam: Some people will get money back from Maryland, but they’ll need to fill out a claim form.

Back in 2010, Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler ordered a Las Vegas company to stop mailings that promised Marylanders bogus prizes of more than $3 million. Gansler also ordered the company to pay back the so called “entry fees” of $20.

Those who sent $20 to a company doing business as “The National Awards Service Advisory,” will get a claim form from the Office of the Attorney General. Once it’s filled out and sent in, the $20 will be returned.
