Police seek witnesses in fatal Seneca Highway collision

WASHINGTON – Detectives in Montgomery County are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Sunday night near Gaithersburg.

Just before 8 p.m. Sunday, officers from the Gaithersburg and Montgomery County police departments responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident on Great Seneca Highway and Lakelands Drive in Kentlands.

An adult female has died from injuries sustained in this collision, police say.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) was on the scene. Southbound Great Seneca Highway was closed between Lakelands Drive and Kentlands Boulevard for several hours, but reopened after 1 a.m. Monday.

Details will be released pending the investigation and notification of next of kin..
