Gas prices drop 2 pennies in a week

WASHINGTON – Gas prices keep falling, but the drop isn’t quite as steep as in recent weeks.

The latest WTOP Pain in the Gas Survey shows the average price of a gallon of unleaded regular is $3.68, down from 2 cents from last week.

Mid-grade is down by 8 cents, to $3.87 a gallon. Premium is down by 3 cents to $4.02 a gallon. Diesel prices are down a penny to $4.11.

The average for regular fuel this week is cheapest in Virginia, where regular is down to $3.59. The average is $3.66 a gallon in Maryland. It’s $3.79 a gallon in the District.

One year ago, WTOP’s survey found the price of gas to be $3.93 on June 2, 2011. In 2010, gas prices were more than a dollar lower.
