For newlyweds, surprises continue after the honeymoon

WASHINGTON – The first year of marriage is full of surprises. Those surprises can vary depending on a couple’s religious background or what premarital activities they engaged in, but there are a few all couples should count on, says Meredith Bodgas of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Number one is being asked — by everyone — when the newlyweds will have children. It’s not just friends and family, either. Perfect strangers near and far will pry into potential baby making plans.

Another surprise is the wistful feelings that wash over you when the wedding is over. Bodgas says it is a relief, but there is also a mourning period for the loss of excitement and constant praise.
