Metro bus driver does not have meningitis

WASHINGTON – A Metro bus driver who made headlines on Monday for having viral meningitis never had the virus, officials said Friday.

Metro would not say why the driver’s diagnosis had changed because of laws regarding medical privacy.

On Monday, Metro alerted the public about the driver’s condition and took his bus out of service immediately. The transit agency also disinfected all 164 buses on the driver’s 14th Street route as a precaution.
