CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Department of Aviation data show flights are still canceled at O’Hare International Airport after sabotage last week at a suburban air traffic control center.
The department said Wednesday morning that O’Hare had more than 170 canceled flights and airlines were reporting delays of about 35 minutes. Aviation officials said operations at Midway International Airport were normal. The Federal Aviation Administration says O’Hare recorded about 80 percent of average Tuesday traffic on Tuesday and Midway was at about 85 percent.
A Naperville man is charged with setting a fire Friday at an Aurora control center and then trying to kill himself. The damage caused more than 2,000 flights to be canceled, disrupting travel nationwide.
The FAA says crews are working to clean the Aurora facility and install new equipment.
