Woman 100 millionth rider on Ohio roller coaster

MASON, Ohio (AP) — A Tennessee woman took the 100 millionth ride given on a roller coaster that opened 42 years ago at a southwestern Ohio amusement park.

Officials with Kings Island say Angela Marshall of Chattanooga, Tennessee, took the ride Friday on the Racer. The coaster opened with the 364-acre amusement and waterpark in 1972.

Marshall received a Racer-themed airbrush t-shirt, a 2015 VIP tour for eight guests and a sign proclaiming her as the twin-track coaster’s 100 millionth rider.

The park says the Racer broke records as the world’s biggest, longest and fastest roller coaster at the time of its debut.

The roller coaster also was featured in the “Cincinnati Kids” episode of “The Brady Bunch” TV show filmed at Kings Island in 1973.
