Police Investigating Armed Carjacking In Chevy Chase

Montgomery County police carMontgomery County Police say a man pointed a gun at a Chevy Chase resident in her driveway before the resident ran to her home and the man stole the vehicle on Thursday night.

Police said that at about 10:19 p.m. on Thursday, officers were called to a home in the 100 block of East Melrose Street, near Brookeville Road and just a few blocks north of the D.C. line.

A woman was sitting in the passenger seat of her vehicle, a black 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was in her driveway. Police said the suspect came up to the Jeep, opened the driver’s door and pointed a handgun at the woman.

The woman then ran out of the vehicle and into her home, police said. The suspect was last seen driving the Jeep toward Connecticut Avenue.

Police said the suspect was described as a black man, 5-foot-10 to 6-feet and about 20-years-old. He wore all black clothing and had a black or gray handgun, police said.

The stolen Jeep has a license plate of 112142D.
