Va. man charged after 2 horses die in wreck

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Authorities in Hanover County say a Caroline County man has been charged after a trailer carrying two horses crashed.

The homemade trailer became detached from the pickup truck he was driving, went off a road and struck some trees on Sunday. The Hanover sheriff’s office says one of the horses died of its injuries and the other was euthanized.

Media outlets report 51-year-old Michael Anthony Wilkerson Sr. initially was charged with driving on a suspended license. He now faces multiple other charges that include failure to obtain registration and properly secure a trailer.
