HONAKER, Va. (AP) — Investigators in southwest Virginia say an 11-year-old girl hunting with family members was killed when a tree fell on her.
The death occurred Sunday, according to the Russell County Sheriff’s Office. The girl’s name has not been released.
The Bristol Herald-Courier (http://bit.ly/1o882X5 ) reports that she was pronounced dead at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Honaker Elementary School Principal Gary Hess says she was a pupil in his school. Counselors were at the school on Monday.
