RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Ground breaking for an expansion of the Virginia War Memorial has been delayed until next spring.
Memorial executive director Jon C. Hatfield says he’d hoped ground would be broken by the end of the summer. The project is now expected to be completed by late 2016 or early 2017.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1qjMdyV ) says Hatfield outlined the new timeline on Monday at a meeting of the Henrico Business Leaders.
The state-funded expansion will cost more than $17 million. It includes an addition with a 350-seat auditorium and an underground parking area.
