Foust, Comstock clear $1M in House fundraising

McLEAN, Va. (AP) — Democrat John Foust and Republican Barbara Comstock say they have each raked in more than $1 million in the last three months in their campaigns to claim the congressional seat long held by Republican Frank Wolf.

The numbers live up to predictions that the battle would be one of the most expensive House races in the country.

Foust’s campaign spokesman, Shaun Daniels, said Friday that he believes it’s the first time candidates have ever raised $1 million in a single three-month period in Virginia’s 10th congressional district.

The Foust-Comstock race has been one of the most closely watched in the country, featuring an open seat in a swing district that sits in the Washington, D.C., media market.

Official reports from both campaigns are due later this month.
