NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The owner of a health care business and his wife have been convicted of health care fraud.
A federal jury convicted W. Wayne Perry and Angela Perry in Norfolk on Tuesday.
According to court records, Wayne Perry was the owner and operator of the Norfolk-based Community Personal Care, which provided home health care services that were reimbursable by Medicaid.
Prosecutors said between 2009 and 2012, they couple orchestrated a billing scheme where fraudulent claims were submitted to the Virginia Medicaid program. Prosecutors said the couple committed about $1.3 million in fraud.
The couple will be sentenced on Jan. 8.
