Police: Labor Day murder may have been random

WASHINGTON — A Labor Day murder in Fairfax County may have been a random homicide, according to police.

There is no known motive as the investigation continues.

According to a statement from the police department, officers were called to the 6000 block of Bellview Drive in the Culmore area early Labor Day morning.

A 27-year-old man was found dead in a parking lot with trauma to his upper body, investigators say.

The victim has been identified as Filaberto Felipe Paz Ramirez.

After reviewing the circumstances surrounding the case, police say they “can no longer rule out the possibility that this is a random act.”
