Va. charitable games focus of 2 meetings

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — The public will have two more chances to speak on possible changes to Virginia’s charitable games regulations.

The Office of Charitable and Regulatory Programs has scheduled public meetings for Wednesday in Virginia Beach and Friday in Vienna. The first public session was held last week in Richmond.

The meetings offer an opportunity for members of the public to share their ideas on how to manage such games, including bingo and raffles.

In 2013, organizations contributed more than $25 million to charitable programs from charitable games.

The charitable program office is part of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
