Pa. trucker charged in Va. pileup that killed 2

KESWICK, Va. (AP) — A Pennsylvania trucker faces a reckless driving charge following a pileup in Virginia that killed two people and injured two others.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says a flatbed tractor-trailer driven by 50-year-old James J. Nagy of Bangor, Pennsylvania, rear-ended a sport-utility vehicle on Interstate 64 in Albemarle County. The impact set off a chain-reaction crash involving a total of five vehicles, including a car that caught fire.

The accident occurred Wednesday in the westbound lanes near Keswick. Geller says traffic had slowed because of an earlier accident.

Geller says in a news release that the car’s driver, 70-year-old Vicki L. Shields of Palmyra, died at the scene. A male passenger in another vehicle died at UVA Medical Center. His name hasn’t been released.

Geller says Nagy wasn’t injured.
