Medical examiner seeks help in cold cases

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is seeking the public’s help to identify several people whose bodies were found in central and eastern Virginia between 1981 and 2003.

To help with the identification, the office has computer-generated photographs showing how the individuals likely looked at the time of their deaths.

The office needs help with cold cases in Richmond, Norfolk, New Kent County, Petersburg and Emporia.

Photographs of the victims have been entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System that can be viewed at www.identifyus.org.

Recently, a computer-generated photograph of an unidentified individual found in Newport News helped generate additional information for police, allowing them to identify the person.
