Man caught with gun in carry-on at Reagan National

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Authorities say a man was allowed to board a flight from Washington to Atlanta after an unloaded handgun was confiscated from his carry-on bag.

The Transportation Security Administration says the man was stopped at a security checkpoint at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Monday evening after TSA officers spotted the gun and a magazine loaded with 16 rounds.

Police responded, and the man was cited on a state weapons charge. He was then allowed to board his flight, without the gun. There was no disruption to airport operations.

Guns are not permitted in carry-on luggage. They allowed in checked baggage if they are unloaded, properly packed and declared to the airline.
