Reward for info on missing Va. hiker hits $50,000

STAUNTON, Va. (AP) — A reward for information about the whereabouts of a missing Staunton hiker has doubled.

The News Leader (http://bit.ly/1vBAmhT ) reports that the reward is now $50,000.

Sixty-year-old Robert “Bobby” Fitzgerald disappeared in November 2012 on Shenandoah Mountain. Police believe he lost his cell phone while hiking on the mountain and went looking for it the next day. He was reported missing days later when he failed to show up for his job in Stuarts Draft.

Search and rescue teams have looked for Fitzgerald several times.

Augusta County Sheriff Randy Fisher tells the newspaper that there’s been no financial activity on Fitzgerald’s bank accounts since he went missing.
