Man says he didn’t murder missing Va. teen

LOVINGSTON, Va. (AP) — The man convicted of killing a Nelson County teenager is denying that he harmed the girl or knows where she is.

Forty-eight-year-old Randy Taylor was found guilty last week in connection with the disappearance of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy.

Jurors found him guilty of first-degree murder in commission of abduction and abduction with intent to defile and recommended a life sentence on both charges.

But in an interview with WCAV-TV (http://bit.ly/1jWQvMF ), Taylor said he almost passed out when the verdict was read because he didn’t murder anyone.

Murphy disappeared last August. She was last seen at a gas station in Lovingston. Authorities found her car several days later in an Albemarle County parking lot.

Taylor did not testify in his own behalf during the trial. Sentencing is set for July 23.
