WASHINGTON – A Loudoun County man wanted for car and firearm theft in Virginia was arrested during a burglary in Mississippi Thursday.
Joseph S. Schrotz, 22, was arrested at a home in Harrison County, according to a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department news release.
Schrotz is facing multiple felony charges, including possession of a stolen firearm and fleeing in Mississippi. Charges are pending in Virginia linked to crimes in Chantilly, according to the release.
Schrotz led Mississippi deputies on a 25-mile chase while driving a car stolen from Loudoun County, the release says. He fled on foot and was able to get away, until police caught him in the middle of a home burglary a day later.
Inside the 2009 Dodge Calibur, reported stolen from Gothic Square in Chantilly on March 26, police found three firearms: an AR-15 rifle, a .40 caliber handgun, and a 9mm caliber handgun, the release says.
Loudoun County detectives continue to investigate this case.
