Police: Va. college student sexually assaulted

WASHINGTON – A female student at the Northern Virginia Community College says she was sexually assaulted on Monday afternoon, police say.

It happened around 2 p.m. in the stairwell of the Dawes parking garage at the Alexandria campus, the woman says. Campus police sent out a crime alert to students and staff shortly after.

Jessica Baxter, public information officer for the campus police, says the victim did not have any physical injuries.

The male suspect was walking on campus later that night and was arrested at 9:50 pm.

Police believe this case is isolated.
