WASHINGTON – A Bald eagle was rescued Saturday afternoon near the Van Dorn Street Metro Station.
Officials say the Raptor Conservancy of Virginia alerted them to the injured eagle on the Blue Line tracks around 2 p.m.
The conservancy had been monitoring it for two days after receiving a call about an injured bird living dangerously close to the tracks.
When officials arrived, the eagle had a broken wing and was inside the track fence, about 300 yards from the station.
Animal control helped stabilize the eagle, which is now in Falls Church being cared for by the conservancy.
It’s not known how it broke its wing.
