Local music events entertain before ringing in the New Year

WASHINGTON – The last weekend of 2013 could be the perfect way to keep the festivities going before ringing in the mid-week New Year.

Friday at The Fillmore Silver Spring, hip hop star and actor Common is scheduled to perform.

His last album was released in 2011, but the rapper recently collaborated with Jay Z.

Also scheduled for Friday at The Howard Theatre, R&B singer Keith Sweat performs.

Sunday night at Rock & Roll Hotel, modern folk favorites the Felice Brothers are scheduled to perform.

Sunday night at the Birchmere, a John Denver tribute night is scheduled.

John Denver lookalike Ted Vigil leads the band, which includes former Denver guitarist Steve Weisberg.
