Boy seriously injured in shooting in northeast DC

WASHINGTON (AP) — Police say an 8-year-old boy is seriously wounded, and two men were injured in a shooting in northeast Washington.

Police say officers were called to the 3800 block of Hayes Street NE about 9 p.m. Friday for the report of gunshots. Officers found the victims in the parking lot of the Mayfair Mansions apartment complex.

Police say the boy did not appear to be associated with the two men who were injured. Police said Saturday that the boy remains in critical condition.

The two men who were shot were taken to hospitals with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
