The release said he was a third-year student who lived in an off-campus apartment. Officials did not identify the student or indicate whether he had been found dead at the apartment, how police were called or how he might have died.

By Saturday afternoon, a police report says the student went to various nightclubs and consumed alcohol. He went back to the apartment, where an acquaintance found him unresponsive on a sofa. Emergency personnel took the student to George Washington Hospital and pronounced him dead.

During an investigation, it was found that the student consumed cocaine, according to the police report.

The university’s Division of Student Affairs is “reaching out directly to those students most affected by this devastating loss to offer support,” according to a school statement.

Call the school’s counseling center at 202-994-5300 if help is needed.
