See where Washington ranks on Forbes’ most valuable NFL franchises list

Most any pro football fan can make a reasonable guess at the most valuable team in the National Football League. It’s the Dallas Cowboys. Always the Dallas Cowboys. Eight years in a row atop Forbes’ annual report on NFL team valuations.

But what about the rest of the Top 10 and beyond? Forbes has some answers, and some rankings, based on team value (equity plus net debt), 2013 revenue and operating income (head to the article to see how they did the math).

And it couldn’t come at a better time: Pre-season, on the heels of the sale of another pro team — the NBA Los Angeles Clippers, for $2 billion — and as the lowly Buffalo Bills search in vain for a buyer interested in dishing out $1 billion.

FYI, Washington’s NFL team is ranked at No. 3. Take a look at our slideshow of the Top 10.
