Pet of the Week: Trophies

WASHINGTON — Are you looking for a canine companion who stands out from the crowd? Then look no further than Trophies.

With her gray coat, intelligent hazel eyes and alert demeanor, this 6-month-old pup would take the prize for distinctive looks.

Although her parentage is a mystery, she reminds us most of an unusual breed called a Dutch shepherd. Trophies is very smart and food-motivated, and loves her training sessions at the Washington Animal Rescue League.

She is uncertain around other dogs so she’s looking for a dog-savvy human companion who will help her develop her social skills. She’s not particularly interested in toys, but likes walks and would probably enjoy a fenced yard in which to explore.

About WARL: Founded in 1914, the Washington Animal Rescue League is the oldest animal shelter in Washington D.C. Its mission includes rescuing, rehabilitating and finding homes for animals who have no where else to go. The League also supports animals through affordable veterinary care, community outreach and education. Learn more about the Washington Animal Rescue League at www.warl.org.
