A cappella group dedicates song to Navy Yard victims (Video)

WASHINGTON – In the wake of Monday’s shooting at the Washington Navy Yard, a local sextet is offering its condolences to the victims and their families in song form.

Pitches Be Crazy, a cappella group formed just two months ago, recorded its rendition of Boyz II Men’s “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” after hearing about the shooting, which left 13 people dead, including the gunman.

Three members of the group are either active-duty or retired service members.

“[We’re] not looking for any fame or recognition,” says singer Leslie Ann Kekuewa in an email. “Just wanted to share our heartfelt condolences. Our hearts and prayers are with those affected by this terrible tragedy.”

Kekuewa, who is from Springfield, Va., is retired from the Air Force. Her husband remains on active duty.
