Teen shot, wounded by officer inside stolen car

WASHINGTON (AP) – D.C. police say an officer shot and wounded a teenager inside a stolen vehicle.

The shooting occurred Saturday night after police say the driver of the carjacked vehicle rammed an officer on foot. The officer suffered minor injuries.

Police had been pursuing the vehicle, and officers were approaching it on foot when it was stuck in traffic on Route 295 in Northeast Washington. That’s when the car hit one of the officers and an officer opened fire.

The car drove off but stopped less than a mile away and police took the teenagers – one female and two males – into custody. One of the teens had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
